The casual Kitsilano and Gastown locations of this restaurant/bar offer live jazz every night. Local pianist Linton Garner plays every Tuesday to Saturday. Rotating acts appear, as well as regular featured performers at the 162 Water Street location. It is dotted with pictures of jazz legends and finished off with a grand piano on the stage. Find a large selection of Italian appetizers, salads, soups, breads and antipasti. Items like the Black Sambucca Prawns ($9.95CDN) are popular and pastas like the baked Canneloni Pescatora ($10.95CDN) are tempting.
Loved the food there - I had the veal + angel hair pasta in bolognese sauce. Very tasty, and I'm a picky eater.
Portions are also generous. Everbody at the table beside us doggy-bagged their leftovers. Our $12 pasta was a small mountain that can easily feed 2 women.
Hostess was extremely helpful in giving us explanations.
And of course, the jazz was great!
we found this place by accident and were coaxed in by the singer who was taking a breather outside. Brilliant atmosphere, excellent music and you don't have to be a lover of jazz, very good food. Highly recommended.
