"This restaurant's setting resembles a traditional ristorante, complete with Romanesque columns and large windows. Diners here can see how fine Italian cuisine is prepared. Outside, there's a garden patio with wrought-iron furniture and a fountain. Appetizers include everything from seasonal raw oysters (CAD13.88 per half dozen) to an imaginative Oven-Baked Figs stuffed with gorgonzola, prosciutto and aged balsamic syrup (CAD12.88). Pasta dishes range from CAD15.88-17.88, while a grilled AAA beef tenderloin with caramelized garlic and scalloped potato goes for CAD29.88. The impressive wine list includes 37 by the glass."
Took a couple of friends out to dine here, we had the Chef prepare several courses of his choice, and the Sommelier pair up wines. The food and wine pairings were excellent. If I could do this once a week I would, the staff we wonderful. The wine list is huge and the staff seem to know it very well. We had a palate cleanser in the glass in just over 10 minutes of entering the restaurant, and our first appy on the table inside of 20 minutes. Everything flowed from there.
Four of us dined and four of us had tasteless meals. We had halibut, venison and veal - all which lacked flavors. They had a large selection of wines but the prices started at approx. $100 each. The decorating was very tastefully done but this experience left me feeling totally ripped off. I am very easy to please but actually shuttered from the flavor of one mouthful of food. Yuck! We will never return and we will warn our friends not to waste their money on this place.
If you open a bottle of wine, dress very nicely, order appet., DON't bring your baby (because they dont have change pad in the powder room ), have the most expensive entree and follow by dessert and dessert wine; they probably will give you better service. Me and my husband spent $160 there but we felt like we were some dogs fed by their abusive owner.
I have been dining at La Terrazza for years. I love the personal service, the fantastic food and the very reasonable price. I have never had a bad experience there. That says a lot because I dine out often. I think some of those previous reviews must be from people who are not regular diners who must have been dinning during dine out Vancouver, who felt the $35 menu was too expensive for them. Not only have I experienced there warm service but I guess other people have too considering they have won not only wine but also service awards. I would HIGHLY recomend it. My favorates are the beef tenderloin and the lava cake. Yum yum!
My husband and I went to this restaurant with 3 other couples. We had the worst dining experience ever. The service was horrible, the food horrible and management's attitude toward the situation, horrible. Customer service does not exist here. Head my warning, spend your money elsewhere.
The service at this restaurant was awful. The hostess was rude, a waiter dumped a tray of water on two of the people in our party, the waiter took 45 minutes to bring our drinks. The waiter told us that he would take care of the bill for two people and then charged us the full amount. The owner and his friend were offensive to our party when we complained about the service and the bill. When the waiter rang our credit card, he over charged us and I had to go thru the bill with him.
The food was not worth the price. The beef carpacio was flavourless, and the main course did not taste like fine dining.
The only positive thing about this restaurant was the ambience was average. I recommend that this restaurant learn a thing or two about customer service.
