Cardero's, Vancouver

The location is great and you would hope that the restaurant would come close ..... well, guess again. First of all the menu .... only 1 page of all food choices available but 2 cramped pages of wine available. The entrees available were limited ... 1 lamb dish, 1 chicken dish, 1 pasta dish, 2 beef and 4 fish along with a beef burger and salmon burger. I ordered a 14 oz. Rib Eye steak @ $34.95 to be cooked medium. Upon arrival it was rare and I declined to eat it. Apologies were made and I asked for a beef burger as a replacement thnking it would be quick . I again asked for the beef to be medium. Well the burger arrived quickly but was over cooked to the point of being well done. I ate it as my fellow diners were already done with their entrees. The restaurant offered free deserts for the table with their compliments, a nice touch. The special desert of the evening was a white chocolate cheesecake which we ordered. It was grainy and tasted like it sat in a cardboard box . No taste of chocolate was apparent. We shared these thoughts in response to the waiter's question of how was the cheesecake. He replied by asking us that "didn't it taste better cause it was free ? : As for the service level it left a lot to be desired. The waiter was slow and generally unattentive on many occasions as he walked past our table to go fold napkins at another table behind us. He even shared with us that he hoped we complimented his service lelvel to the manager when the manager came over to apologize for the undercooked steak cause he got "in trouble frequently". As for the rest of food we ate ... it was tasty and fine but nothing was very good. I would not return to this restaurant.

A fabulous setting and great dining, even at the bar (limited seating at the bar and the counter in the kitchen area). Great deck seating when weather permits.

I look forward to my visits to Cardero's. Their patio is great, whether it's sunny and warm, or rainy and cool (they have heaters). The bar area is comfortable and classy with nice big leather sofas, and lots of windows. I have never been disappointed in the food. The service can be a little slow, but it's a busy place usually. It's one of my favorite places in the city to go.

When our bill came, we were stuck with an almost $20 charge for a diet coke. The waiter didnt inform us that there were not free refills, and kept them coming. He should have told us there would be a charge otherwise we would have had water. Oh - one person had a coffee - which had FREE refills. It has put us off going back - too bad - the food was great.

The staff need an attitude adjustment. The food has always been good but our server was quite rude and spoke down to us on Mother's Day. Quite a treat.

great location; great food and beer; great entertainment. On the regular eatery itinerary for business and pleasure. Will be on my next stop in January.

Food is average decent. Service is at best "faulty" they have a waiter assigned per 6 tables (no matter the size) so there's only the waican can do. They try to push your food fast to turn around the table, even to the point of having 2 and (in my case) the 3 plate ready at your table when your are not even done with the 1st......have to send it back.... wine selection is fine, nothing extraordinary, but "affordable" in terms of Vancvoer dinning. It's a tourists place, no locals and mainly business guys - very few female attendance . Locale is great and on the water so the view (if you get a table close to the window) is ver nice - the Marina.

Reservations are probably a good idea here. The food was great, and well presented. We sat on the deck, which was slightly crowded, but still very nice. Service was quick and friendly.

My wife and I were looking for a good seafood place in the downtown area. I thought the halibut I ordered was excellent and my wife's pasta special w/halibut and assorted seafood was great. I'm usually a pretty tough judge on seafood I eat and Cardero's exceeded my expectation. The atmosphere is more on the loud side (which is what I prefer) vs. romantic. Would definitely recommend this place for visitors to Vancouver.

This place is right on the water at Coal Harbor near the Westin Bayshore Hotel and Marina. It has a good menu, and a great vibe. You can eat inside or out. Parking is valet only, but if you stay in downtown or most places in the west end you can walk to it. It has a good bar, and the place is generally busy. I go there everytime I'm in Vancouver, and I've never been disappointed.
