Not like it used to be

Went last night for dinner. After growing up with a developed taste for good food, and being raised in Vancouver, Hy's was a big dissapoingment. Just can't find really good food served with excellent quality anymore.
Had 7 0z. filet, it was only about 1/2 inch thick. Since when did filet get so thin, if not butterflied? Ordered Bernaise, it had peppercorns. Asked about it, they replaced it with Hollandaise, with tarragon added. The famous ceaser was overpowered with anchovy, but the lettuce was wet. The noise level was difficult for the older set, if you wore a hearing aid.
Too bad, another waist, dinner for 4 was 360$ and truly a let down. Nothing special anymore. If only the food could be as good as it used to be in Vancouver, 35 to 50 years ago. Obviously, the people of today don't know good food or they settle for less than good as good.
Raised by a French Chef and an Italian mother, eating in all the best restaurants in Vancouver, over the last 50 years.
