Cordon Bleu Cafe & Catering, North Vancouver

A breath of fresh air in an industrial area, colourful, tasteful art, menu changes with seasons, relaxing, unpretentious, but style and elegance. Never had a mediocre meal there in over 5 years.

Went with a friend for dinner as the restaurant is just a short walk from where I live. The decor is interesting; a melange of wooden chairs, the ones around the walls up on risers. Watch your step after dinner. The walls are covered in an eclectic mix of paintings (all for sale.) It could be a little more cozy if there were some areas with small boths for couples rather than all bistro seating where everyone can see everyone else. The chairs are comfortable but not enough to really relax in. We noticed the place was mostly empty on a Thursday evening. The lone waitress was friendly and the pace relaxed. The menu, written on chalk boards, was varied and everything sounded lovely. We didn't feel rushed as we started our dinner with warm freshmade bread and butter for nibbling. The wine was perfect; not too cold when served. Our salads were a decent size, fresh and flavourful. When our mains arrived, one pasta seafood the other lamb shanks, both were beautifully prepared and such generous portions. The vegetables were all fresh and well seasoned. The waitress happily packed up my leftover pasta of which there was enough for a full lunch the next day. One slice of apple tatin was nearly the size of a dinner plate! It was thick and sweet and large enough to share. The ice cream on the side was rich and velvety. A perfect finish to a great meal. We were busy chatting so we didn't mind that we had to wait awhile for the waitress to appear at the end of the meal. She accepted the Entertainment coupon without a fuss and the bill was quite reasonable. I would visit Cordon Bleu Cafe again and am happy to recommend it to friends or family.

For the past four years, my wife and I have spent the month of August in North Vancouver and have enjoyed great meals at Cordon Bleu. The food is fresh and well prepared and is reasonably priced. We have eaten at many restaurants in the North Van area and in Vancouver and Cordon Bleu is far and away our favorite. We would not return year after year to this restaurant if it did not offer such delicious food.

My partner takes me here every year. We love it. The service is friendly and personable. Food is great every time. We are taking our family here this year for my birthday. We love the local art on the walls, the cozy atmosphere - a very romantic little restaurant.

This little restaurant has been a favourite of mine for quite a number of years; the food is superb; the decor cozy, and cottage-like; the service can be slow at times; especially when people flock there with their Entertainment coupons in Nov./Dec. The location is unexpected, but it is a treasure of a restaurant. Price is a little higher than one might expect in a neighbourhood restaurant; however, the quality of food is above reproach! We're heading there tonight for our daughter's 26th birthday.

Food was amazing. Restaurant at a bit of a strange location. A bit of a folksy place inside, fairly small with lots of local artists' paintings on the way. Lots of character, nothing fancy. There were 6 of us, we all loved ever dish - pork, venison, lamb, prawns. The desserts were great too. The meats were very tasty, perfectly cooked, & tender. All of the main courses were under $20. We shall be back!! I just can't believe the one negative review above, there's something wrong with that review......

For down to earth French cuisine and no "single mouth-full" portions, this little gem in North Vancouver can't be beat! Excellent Coq au Vin and the fish was perfect!

My friend took me for dinner to Cordon Bleu on my birthday and I loved the cozy atmosphere and the superb service the staff gave us. We had a great time and the food was DELICIOUS! I will definitly visit them again.

My husband and I decided to try the Cordon Bleu Cafe and what a mistake that was. The food was horrific, the decor awful and the prices are a joke. STAY AWAY from this place.
