Over 5000 pieces of fine art can be found at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Works from a variety of Canadian and international artists in a variety of media are on display at this gallery. About 150 works from the collection are displayed on the main floor, and are rotated on a regular basis. Exhibitions of contemporary painting, sculpture, and fine photography are a constant feature. Join a tour or just browse around on your own.

It's an art gallery.

It seems as if the people leaving opinions on this gallery shop for art at Ikea, maybe Walmart. In the short time it has been open, I have seen Picasso, Goya, Group of Seven, Emily Carr, Monet, Reubens, Cezanne, Janvier, and many more incredible pieces of art. The gift shop is great, the childrens activities on some weekends are awesome. The food, a little expensive, but second to none. So, if you are planning on going to the art gallery, then expect an art gallery. If you want cheap food, and entertainment go to Ikea.

If you've ever been to a major gallery in another major Canadian city...prepare to be disappointed. Sad, small collection. Not so much an art gallery as an 'art room'.

The Edmonton Art gallery put all their money and effort into collecting second-rate abstract art from the 70s. Unless that's your interest in art, stay clear.
