We wanted to play this course while visiting friends. We heard about the greens and wanted to play it for ourselves. Well what a disappointment! After paying full rates in October we played greens that were covered with sand and VERY bumpy, not exactly what we were expecting!
When we asked to speak to the manager, the woman we spoke to we very defensive and did not offer any help. I was so mad, we just left. Later friends told us that the woman we talked to used to work as a waitress and now was the manager! Well that makes sense and explains why we were treated so poorly!
Before we left, we noticed that the course was closed, even though it was 15 degrees outside and all the other courses in the area were still open. Our friends told us all the staff had quit because of the new manager there.
We have played this course before and thought it was a wondeful municipal course, but it is so poorly run now it is simply not worth the money we were charged. We will play the Lin
I read the reviews here nd have no idea what these people are talking about. It is a very nice course with the best greens I have seen in Alberta ever!! The proshop staff was very friendly and helpul. We have played here about 9 times this year and woulld like to become members, but there is a waiting list, I think the fact that there is a wating list for membership speaks volumes about this course. We will be back as often as possible.
My husband and I were looking forward to playing Stony Plain again. We have played there at least 5 times a year when we are in Canada and always enjoyed the course.
How things can can in a year. We played last weekend and what a difference from what we remembered. We were out early and for some reason the sprinklers kept turning on just as we approached.
After complaining to the pro shop, we were told that the superintendent does this to stop people from playing too fast! I have NEVER heard of this!
After the round were again complained as spoke with a women who called herself the manager. She not not very helpful and seemed really have no clue of what was going on.
In the past if we had a problem it was always dealt with in a professional manner. I cannot believe how this place is being run his year. No respect for the customers! We will be taking Stony Plain Golf Course off of our list of things to do on our holidays in the future. Not Recommended!
Last year I was a week day member at this course and it was a bad investment. Many of the members are extremely rude towards others that are not in their "group". They have an attitude that they have certain rights that others should not have. There are many great members but it is a few that are staining the image of once a great course. This negative attitude is seen by many others I have spoken with; their views are similar to mine. It is a shame to have such a great course to be taken down by some of these individuals; it is in their hands to change it. I haven't played the course this year and I have no intentions of playing it in the near future. There are many other great courses in the area that offer a more affordable and rewarding experience.
The greens here are amazing, however the people in the pro shop were very unfriendly. we arrived early to hit some balls and found out out tee time had been bumped because of some members. After paying almost $80 each we were not very happy. Does not seem like they had any management in place as no one knew what was going on with our tee time. Spoke with a women who said she was the manger to complain. She did not know what was going on and was not very professional at all. We will not be returning because of the way we were treated, despite the great greens.
