You will find the Sanctuary Curio Shoppe to the south of Edmonton's downtown district. Despite it's strong magical stock and connections, it focuses strictly on the lighter side of magic; there're no black magic items here at all. There is a wide variety of items and books relating to hedonism, wicca, druidry, medieval symbols, herbal healing, astrology and tarot decks. Even if the spiritual side isn't to your taste, there is a fine variety of locally designed clothes available.

What a great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/09/07
I absolutely loved the experience, personally I would recommend it to those who have an open mind and are willing to look around and are not offended by the alternative fashion scene. It was a lot of fun, most of the clothing items are expensive but if you are looking for something else, then the prices can be pretty reasonable. The clothing they display however is incredibly tempting though. The staff are really friendly and will help you find what you're looking for and give advice if you need it. They aren't pushy or overbearing. I'd encourage others to visit and just check it out. You might not buy anything the first time but if you go back you might see something that'll change your definition of style.

I heart Sanctuary!!!

I absolutely LOVE this store. Period. The staff are so awesome and you'll find anything Goth, punk, Emily the Strange and Tim Burton there. This store is, personally, my sanctuary! Check it out!

Alright
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/06
Well sanctuary is filled with wonderful artifacts of all kinds, it does have it's downsides aswell. The service there is amazing, the staff very kind, and have often ordered things that weren't even in the store for myself, and call very quickly when it arrives which I'm thankful for. Alas the clothings value isn't so wonderful their plaid pants mostly tend to fall apart at the seams, so not such a great buy for how expensive they are. There are many other stores on whyte just as kind and much cheaper for example, Mars and Venus, Rowary*(Never could remeber the exact spelling) But yes, venture along and your bound to find something much more valueable. Even buying of the internet is quite cheap to many peoples surprise, and isn't as hard as it seems. But if sanctuary is what does it for you then don't let me disturb you. Good luck with your ventures.

Meh
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/06
-It's only open until 6pm meanwhile the people who shop there are the kind of people who like to shop "later". -It's extremely pricey. There aren't many stores in Edmonton that stock things quite like they do. I reccomend going to the B&D Emporium downtown. It's much cheaper and they will even order things in for you. Their clothing cost an arm and a leg yet fall apart VERY easily. -The Atmosphere isn't nice. They make you feel like a criminal when you want to look at the clothing. You have to ask permission. -For 3 months I continued to ask one of the girls there to order something in for me because the style they had in were too big for me. It wasn't until I talked to the owner that I felt I had made some progress.. I still to this day have not recieved a phone call saying they had got it in. It wasn't until my friend showed me the B&D downtown that I asked them to order the same product in for me. 2 weeks later I had the product. =P

Love the store, not the prices
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/06
It's a really neat store, with tons of unique stuff. From the outside you would suspect encountering a holier-than-thou atmosphere, but you don't. the only bad thing is the price tags.

Best store on White Ave!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/04/05
I personally love the store, the clothes are awesome! A little pricey though, ^_^; however definetly worth it. They have the coolest nic-nacs there, plus alot of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' items. My friends and I can't wait to go back again! In fact, we'll probably go back next weekend!
