Sorrentino's - Little Italy
Edmonton's original Sorrentino's, in the colourful Italian district, offers old-world charm with a cozy fireplace and white tablecloths, in a bistro-like atmosphere. The menu offers interesting seafood dishes, like Gamberi alla Sorrentino (prawns sauteed in garlic butter and white wine), Paella (seafood with chicken and rice in a green peppercorn sauce), and Risotto Seafood, as well as traditional pasta dishes. Sister locations include downtown, in the West End, and on Calgary Trail in the southern part of the city.
I love the food and the service. If you want to see a really cute manager with hot buns go see Matteo. Boy is he cute.
I live in Sherwood Park and would go all the way to little Italy just to check out those buns!!
Honestly the food was good. We were shocked at how slow the service was, and then no service at all.
first, we had our entrees and no salt and pepper, we had to get ourselves....the waitress didn't even ask if we needed anything before she disappeared. Our drinks were empty for the rest of the meal, no refills, and she passed by our table many times without stopping. Never stopped to ask if we needed anything...not once.
We liked the food but hated the service which I believe is very important. Not sure if we would ever go back.
My son took me to Sorrentino's in Calgary for my 60th birthday. I ordered the Calamari as an appetiser, that was suggy and not crispy. I also ordered Vitelo Sorrentino - Veal topped with egg plant, tomato and cheese. I thought that it would be great. The presentation was very good, the eggplant was very hard, and the dish was tasteless. My son had a smiliar experience in Edmonton, and now in Calgary. I was very disappointed because I choose this restaurant. So Sorrentino is out of our list of restaurants that we will ever visit again.
