Items from the tandoor (clay oven) dominate the menu in this lovely restaurant, located just west of the downtown core, in what has recently been dubbed "The Warehouse District." In a charmingly exotic decor of tiles and wooden beams you can choose from simple curries (CAD13.95-17.95) or vegetarian dishes (CAD9.95-11.95). Tandoori dishes, the real attraction, include Aloo Mumtaz (potatoes with raisins, cottage cheese and chilis, CAD10.95) and Namoona e Tandoor (mixed grill for two, CAD38.95). The Tuesday to Friday midday meal is buffet style.
Food and service was outstanding, reminded me of Bukhara , New Delhi. The waiter was very prompt and professional.Decor, the best I have seen in north America. All I can say that khazana is undoutedly the best indian restaurant not only in Edmonton but in the whole Canada.
The food was very disappointing, did not taste like Iindian food at all. Way overpriced, very small portions and took almost one hour for our meal & drinks. The servers did not smile at all, they were not courteous, i felt that they do not want to serve us. The fire place beside us was nice, but bland food & rude service did make our night sad..
Though its outside location is less than prime, once inside you are drawn into another world, with fireplaces throughout, beautiful decor, cozy tables you dine on fascinating flatware and copper goblets. Your waiter will guide you through the menu and the assortment of dishes that will work for you if you are not an initiate of indian cuisine. The mixed tandoori grill was outstanding and is highly recommended, as are the breads and sauces for dipping. Take a date here you will not be disappointed.
