Continental Treat, Edmonton

I am definitly a fan of ctfinebistro! Foods great - I ordered the dumpling stuffed 1/2 chicken, with shallot sauce. It was fantastic, and the Smoked Salmon and pickle soup were great too.

The treat has the most entertaining staff. For a first date you want to look like you know what your doing, they really help. The beer selection is fantastic, my girl loves the fruli its an imported fruit beer that goes well with almost any food. Thanks for the great times and excellent atmosphere. K.R.

Clasica musice on the outside what drew me in...The friendly welcome at the door what made me stay...I tried the dill pickle soup and it was wonderful, for apetizer I had Steak a la tartare, it was really exceptional...Little too big for an apetizer...For the main I treied the duck, and let me tell you it was to die for...I decided to have Oyser bay with my soup, a cab with my tartar and a pinot noir with my duck...I skipped my dessert, I had no room, but I did have an espresso and a XO to finish up the evening...The server Had great experiance and a certain european charm about him...I am really happy that I discovered this place

The food is delicious and authentic tasting, especially the pickle soup. A very good selection of central european cuisine. They carry Zywiec, a very good european beer that is hard to find in a restaurant. I've eaten there many times for birthdays and anniversaries and have never been sick or have been towed.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Edmonton and I booked the Varscona Hotel across the street to coincide with my reservation at this restaurant. We drove from Calgary so I made reservations 4 days in advance and was told I got the last table of the night. We were told we would get the table by the window to be given a table in the middle of the room that was less than desirable. There were only 4 occupied tables in the whole restaurant at 7:30PM and the window overlooks a view of a used car lot with streamers blowing in the wind reminicient of the 80's era which is also the same vintage of the decor of Continental. It hasn't been upgraded in the past 2 decades since the doors have opened. We ordered the 9 oz. Grunner Pepper Steak for $31.95 and I noticed that a lady seated 15 minutes after us was served her main course before us and our meal took over 40 minutes to get to the table. The presentation was good, but my steak had lots of fat and tough tendons, and grissle, about 3 ounces of unedible trim which I put aside. If I wasn't so hungry and tired from my trade show, I would have sent it back. The waitress was less than interested in communicating my concerns to the chef or whether or not we enjoyed our meal. I ended up being sick in my hotel room all night after that meal, so I do warn you to stay away. It's not the same quality or service it used to be. To charge that much for an entree and pretend to be an upscale restaurant was very disappointing.!!

This place has a unique atmosphere - I don't think there is another place in the city like it! The food was delicious - try the pickle soup. Always a great experience.

Service, food, and atmosphere are all excellent. Although, I do wish the place had an open air balcony during the summer to sit and enjoy an espresso and calvados on.

The schnitzel is pretty good, but otherwise this place is only good to okay (not excellent). It's a reliable place for a first date, but I'd recommend only going if you have an entertainment book coupon...

It was my son who introduced me to this place, I think he wanted to go out with one of the waitresses. Everytime I visit Edmonton from Calgary I come and have late lunch. The pickle soup is great, I always have my lamb chops and espresso with Grappa. Hate is such a strong word, but I hate chain restaurants and CT is such an opposite of that. Martha and Kristofer are exceptional servers, and Helen and Chris in the kitchen will prepare a meal that you will not forget. PS: Please change the music to clasical for lunch and light jazz in the evenigs...Brigitte P.
