Manor Cafe (The), Edmonton

We had my wifes birthday dinner tonight at the Manor Cafe, and the food and service was decent. They had a special of salmon with spaetzle. Their starch for the evening for regular menue items was mashed. The restaurant was not busy, so I figured that there wasn't much of a chance of them running out of spetzle. I saw Schnitzle on the menue, and commented that I would like to order spaetzle with the schnitzle, and that is the way it should be served anyway. I was told that they could accomodate that. When the bill came, I was charged $32 per plate for the schnitzle with spaetzle, while the menue price on the schnitzle was $22 ---an extra $10 per plate for a substitution. what she subbed was the schnitzle for the salmon, and charged me for the price of the salmon special. When I brought it to the server's attention, she said that they cannot substitute, and stood by the $32. I my opinion there are better restaurants in Edmonton that will substitute the starch with charging a huge extra. Obviously, I won't return.

Great Place, great service, very tasty food. Staff was very relaxed and didn't rush our dining experience with a nice variety of dishes to experience and various rooms.

My wife & I haver always enjoyed our time at Manor Cafe. The intimate atmosphere and wonderful food make for amazing experience. And this all comes at a very reasonable price

The ambience of the Manor Cafe is what really makes it; it's located in a charming old house in a relatively quiet neighbourhood. The food is excellent (if a little pricey), and the wine list is good. The desserts are to die for too. Highly recommend the spinach salad!!

This used to be our favourite restaurant for special occasions. There used to be something quite magical about dining by a roaring fire while a server went out of his way to make your meal memorable. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case at Manor Cafe. The food is still pretty good but overpriced for what you get and definitely not as wonderful as it used to be. The service, especially for an evening meal, is poor. We were ignored most of the time, we had to pour our own wine for each little sip and when our food finally arrived, it was only lukewarm and the server didn't seem that interested that it bothered us. With the higer prices, we had expected much more. If they improve their service and perhaps train their waiters to be more attentive, maybe we'll go back. But for now, we'll be looking elsewhere for a nice evening out.

Casual but classy atmosphere. The food was excellent and very affordable. I would highly recommend this place for a group or business luncheon or for a romantic dinner for 2.

The setting was very nice not too dark, and the service was excellent, the food was good and the variety was plentiful. Everything was presented elegantly, one set back is to not go on a major event day, when it get's quite busy, noise does get a bit loud i mean it is just that popular, and i am sure everyone will enjoy.

Twelve "Red Hats" attended a birthday lunch this past weekend. The setting, service, food, etc. was A-one. We had a great time, and can't wait for an excuse to come back again. Thanks.

This is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton. I love the location, the house, the interior and the friendly staff. Most of all I was very happy to discover that even as a vegetarian I could choose from several interesting dishes. And the deserts...

The service is fantastic. They were polite, happy and well trained as a staff. The food is some of the best in town. Perfect place to bring a lady if you want to impress her. Can't say enough about it.
