Fish Creek Provincial Park
Fish Creek Provincial Park is Canada's largest urban park, covering much of the south side of the city and dividing established and newer suburbs. The park features no organized recreational grounds, with day usage intended instead for walking, cycling or picnicking, although tobogganing is popular in the winter. At the far east and south end is the man-made Lake Sikome beach and swimming area. The Fish Creek Environmental Learning Center, at the west end of the park, is intended primarily for school groups. At the east end, the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Center, a small bakery cafe, and a more upscale sit-down restaurant, dubbed The Ranch, greet visitors. Check website for varying dates.
I live on the ridge in Cranston and have to watch the people who let there dogs run wild and chase the deer, stir up the Pheasants , Partridge, ON LEASH signs are present. Never any supervision, IT's supposed to be a Provincial Park, HOW SAD.
Have lived here for 4 years haven't seen any change as to the above......
This park is HUGE (the largest urban park in Canada). There is a creek running through the park (Fish Creek). Lots of trees and grass, some wild animals (snakes!), and even a man-made lake/beach (Sikome Lake)! Highly recommended!
i think its great , i mean how many parks have there own swimming lake and snack bar? well the creek does theres bike trails and horse trails and loads of wildlife! and at least the people who work there are kind they care unlike some about animal welfare of our beautifull creatures and plants. people regulry pick up fallen litter and respect the enviroment so if u drop litter stop being mean theres trash cans and garbage bins you doorknob!
The park has taken some damage in the floods of 2005 but what an amazing city as it rallies round to repair the walkways, paved pathways and bridges. Approximately 11 bridges are being airlifted out for repairs but will be back in place shortly. Incredible cycling paths, walking paths with respectful bikers! Picnic spots all around. There is access to the park in numerous locations throughout the cities south. Creek is clear for swimming, wildlife in abundance and seen often on a visit. Well worth a stop and many return visits. Definitely, a 5 star stop.
