Bowness Park

Description

On any mild winter day, the frozen lagoon in this park is filled with skaters. An open expanse of ice with smaller tributaries that wind off out of view, the man-made lagoon is great for youngsters just learning to skate or for those who need to burn some energy. A fire burning in the on-ice pit warms chilled hands. Canoes, foot-powered watercraft rentals, a miniature train ride, mini golf, carnival rides, a kiddie spray pool, playground and sports fields are all available in summer. Admission is free.

Better history of Bowness Park
By ,
While searching for specific info about the parks history, I noticed the information available is sparse, so you are invited to an upcoming post on my blog where I will have a more complete overall history of the area. ( Ogopogo like river monster caught in Bowness Lagoon 1942 )

It's an \"ok\" park
By ,
Too many people have been giving this park a 5 star review. I give it a 3, why? Too dirty! There is way too much garbage being left around in the park during the summer time by all the people BBQing, the grass could be better kept and the small river/lagoon that surrounds the park is pretty discusting. There are far much nicer parks in the city. Thanks but no thanks!

Beautiful Skating!!!
By ,
My family and I LOVE Bowness Park. In the summer the bike paths and outdoor picnic facilities are fabulous, in the fall it's great for long crunchy walks through the leaves, in the winter the lagoon is regularly cleared of snow and the outdoor (free) skating is heavenly! ... just imagine the snowflakes gently landing on your nose while you skate surrounded by happy people. Big firepits are set into the ice so that you can warm up and sip your hot chocolate and coloured lights adorn the trees ...

Wonderful place for all ages
By ,
The good thing about that this place is for everyone, adults and kids. Family/group gathering where everyone can meet and have good time together.A beautiful peaceful side walk on the river. Ducks are so cute and enjoy other people's company. "Relaxing and fun for every one"... cool place.

Amazing
By ,
This park is amazing. Clearly one of the most pleasant parks around. Great location, and attractions. Not overly commercialized, but still maintained nicely. There were a few areas under rennovation while I was here, but this means it will be even better next year! I can't wait.
