Devonian Gardens

Description

When a cold north wind is howling and the mid-winter temperature is too frigid, this downtown greenhouse is a welcome oasis of greenery and warmth. Devonian Gardens is Alberta's largest indoor garden with 2.5 acres under glass. It showcases some 20,000 local and tropical plants, fountains, waterfalls, reflecting pools stocked with carp, wooden bridges and a small playground where harried parents can let loose their children. Admission is free.

Free Park - Escape to an Oasis in the Middle of the City
By ShannonJ, 9/3/07
I loved this place! I discovered the Devonian Gardens last summer when I spent a week exploring Calgary. It's an amazing tribute to children who have died. There are lots of benches, fountains and flora spread out on the three floors of the TD Tower @ 317 7th Ave SW, Calgary, AB. After discovering this quiet oasis in the city, I had lunch there the following day. You really have to see this to believe it!

Beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/05
As somebody who grew up in the country far from highways, towering buildings, and bright lights, I have seen many beautiful things in nature on a daily basis. After visiting these gardens I feel they too, surprisingly, satisfy my desire to see the beauty of nature each day. To anyone who wishes to complain about them, get a grip, shut-up, and learn to appreciate what you have right here in Calgary. You're very lucky to have this escape.

nice escape
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/30/05
I love that it is a garden inside a mall. A great escape for a busy day, and also a romantic atmosphere for a casual lunch date. There needs to be more seating/benches through out, though.

I loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/5/05
I found it to be a wonderful escape from the freezing busy city. Right in the middle of Downtown Calgary, in TD Square. Nice spot to take a break from shopping or work and have lunch, feed the fish or just enjoy the flowers.

Devonian Gardens
Basically, it's a nice garden inside a shopping mall.

Nothing anywhere near mind blowing, and nothing you'll want to spend a lot of time in, but the fact it's a nice garden inside a shopping mall is cool in it's self.

Donate a dollar and get some fish food to feed the fish!
