disappointing service

Tried to return a suitcase on Boxing Day, with two toddlers in tow. I was told that they were not taking returns until the following day, even though there was nobody in the store. I was upset as I had to drag the case through the mall, so I asked if I could leave it in the back room until the following day and was told "no".
I called the head office and complained. I was told that the staff was told to use discretion for returns on Boxing Day, that if the return was not hindering sales, then it could be done. The customer service manager apologized and said that he would send me something for my time and trouble. That was five months ago and I have yet to receive anything.
