Leo Fu's Restaurant
Leo Fu's specialties are Szechuan dumplings and ginger fried beef; the secret of their special beef, they say, lies in the fact that they only deep-fry the beef for seconds before adding generous spices and sauce. Although the setting is casual dining, the food is definitely not. Their dining room seats about 65 people, and the service is fast and efficient. They specialize in Szechuan and Mandarin cuisine and offer a dozen different type of noodle dishes. They are licensed for beer and wine and offer take-out.
The service was extreme bad the first time, but the food was great. Just left Leo Fu's and 2 of our dishes tasted of burned food. The Salt and Pepper Chicken smelled burned sitting on the table. Even after smelling the food the restaurant would not acknowledge the mistake. Huge waste of money!!!
I have been getting takeout from Leo Fu's restaurant for 10 years and tonight was the final straw. The Yuling Duck sauce was watered down and tasteless and when I asked if the sauce recipe had been changed the staff were surly and beligerent. It is not like this is a new dish to my family, it has been our favorite dish for years, but lately not worth the effort.
Too bad, they used to be good and the staff used to be friendly.
The quality of the food is great - fresh - tasty & a wide variety of choices. Probably some of the best Chinese food I have had.
On one occaision - I was 10 minutes late in picking up an order & had the server give me a lecture about being on time. Unfortunately due to weather conditions, our arrival was slightly delayed. In house server response is much the same - abrupt & not really very customer friendly. If you go for the food experience & don't mind the attitude - you will love it.
Me and my family have been going to Leo Fu's for years -- including my aunt and uncle who live in Vancouver (and have their choice of good Chinese restaurants). They always make a point of eating here when in Calgary.
The food is always fresh and hot. They have the ginger beefs and the palace styles, but Leo Fu's has some unique things as well. The orange beef is great.
Just a comment on someone elses review, the staff at Leo Fu's are straight from PRC. It is not the Chinese way to linger at restaurants. If you don't want a little bit of cultural exchange when you go for Chinese food, maybe you should just stick to Manchu Wok.
I've being coming here for years, and have introduced many peiple to Feo Fu"s , however, one night when I had guests we had food brought out so fast we hardly had time to sip our drinks, we were barely finished eating and were actually asked if we could leave as they needed our table,we downed our drinks and went elsewhere for a coffee. The reason I am on the website is I needed to get the phone number to make a reservation for tonite,,good food, but hang on to your chair!
Who cares if the place is a dated hole in the wall..I have been going there on occasion over the last 10 years and the food and service have always been great. It is always an enjoyable meal for us(usually a big group, so we order lots of stuff).
I am surpised that this restaurant got any bad reviews..must have been a really off day two, but personally, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys great food.
The best restaurant in the world, no joke! I could eat here everyday for the rest of my life and I still wouldn't be able to get enough! I recommend the Leo Fu's combination with black pepper sauce, Mandarin Triple Delicacy, and salt and pepper chicken. Absolutely phenominal. I've been going here for 15 years, this place is awesome!
I am replacing every major holiday dinner with a trip to Leo Fu's

The one thing that I hate about this restaraubt is that there is not enough of them. I wish that ther was one directly next to my house, place of business and my summer home. Furthermore, I hate the fact that the food causes me to get full because I dont want to have to stop eating it. If Leo is reading this I hope that he will do his best to attend to his restaurants flaws.
Both the food and the service is excellent, some times they appear to be a little abrupt when speaking to you, but I guess it's just "Their Way"......The food is always hot and always served quickly, no waiting 45minutes for your food to arrive and then it's cold. Just excellent Leo Fu's
