Misai Japanese Restaurant, Calgary

I ate at the Misai Sushi restaurant with a 3 other work colleges on Monday and I have to say I was blow away by the quality of the restaurant. I work just around the corner and have recently moved here from Japan. I am not Japanese but was seconded there for almost 4 years. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and the produce was high quality. I have read some of the other reviews and I am not sure what they are expecting. The service was outstanding. I was greeted by a friendly waitress who ushered us to a booth where she offered us drinks and walked us through the menu. The food arrived promptly and was of very high quality. The salmon was a beautiful rich pink and super fresh the rice was firm with a slight hint of vinegar. The presentation was on the money. I loved the décor of the place I felt like I was back in Japan Keep it up Misai I will be back

Huge selection and Fresh produce the service has improved since I was last there and the staff were friendly and accomodating to our children.

we been to this place so many times..and i have to admit the food is great...great selections..however, every single time the service sucks. we wait around 20 -25 mins just to place our order, even when though it is not busy. There is a manager in the place, but she obviously does not manage very well. They always make a mistake on the order... Food is great for both sushi lovers and non-sushi lovers.

The sushi was fresh and tasty but very expensive. I found it 1.5 times more than other comparable sushi restaurants in the city. I will drive further to save the money.

Pretty good tempura and dons...sushi/sashimi is sometimes off...great gyoza...try the gyosashimi!
