Nick's Steakhouse and Pizza, Calgary

If people are looking for fast food then they should go to a fast food place.... I have never understood why people go out to eat in a nice place and its all rush rush RUSH... next time go to Wendysor grab a Big Mac.

I go there alot with my family and the food is always great. We love the pizza!

I too noticed the "cook" using his hand to ladle in the sauce on my wings too! That must be a health violation if I ever saw one! This is just nasty. I sent them back stating that they were stale, but they never took them off the bill. Also had gone for new years and went after the dinner rush and still had slow service although the waitress was doing her best considering the day. My Hubby ordered the big 32 oz steak and asked to butterfly it so it could cook evenly throughout seeing how it is such a huge 2 inch thick steak, that would actually help the "cooks" get it cooked through. That never happened and actually sent it back 3 times and all they did was burn it on the outside whilst still very bloody on the inside. Asked for a "manager", (this guy who was not Nick the owner, who was there that night clapping his hands most of the night in anticipation for his end of the day tally, didn't even look our way when we obviously were upset) this skinny kid who was what you could call the "acting manager" came back and apologized for the steak, and gave us a free ice cream dessert, to go mind you, in winter with no cutlery, and didn't even take the disgusting bloody burnt steak off the bill. My husband usually eats anything, but this was truly repulsive and for the price you pay the food is just mediocre at best. He went to Wendy's right after, at least they got it right. A big booooo and thumbs down from me!

Where to begin! Our family took my 81 year old father out for supper as several of us were going to be out of town for his official birthday. My fathers steak tasted sour, my brother in law ordered a medium rare rib eye which came to him well done. When his steak came back it was a medium rare steak sandwich! I ordered ham and fresh tomato pizza and it came with ham and sun dried tomato and was over done. My father had lost his appetite for steak so ordered a hawaiian pizza which was way over done. The coffee at the end of the meal required four times the cream as it was old. Never once were our water glasses filled once emptied and the service was slow. No blame to the waitress however as she was trying really hard to keep up with too many tables for one waitress to be responsible for. There were 7 of us there and four of us had pretty much inedible food. None of us will ever go back and couldn't believe there wasn't even an offer of a price reduction with all the screw ups that had occurred.

everything we ordered was excellent - Steaks and lasagna. The steaks come with salad, garlic toast, veggies and pototoe. Nothing was extra like at most places. The prices are very reasonable, especially for all you get. The lasagna was too big to finish, also came with salad and garlic toast. We really like the atmosphere, it is not trendy but comfortable. We chose to sit in the lounge side so we could watch the hockey game plus you can take your kids in there with you.

We heard that Nick's was a Calgary classic but we found it to be outdated, both in the style of the interior and inside the menu itself. We both ordered pasta dishes, mine with veal parmesean. We found the meat sauce to be bland, with an over-riding flavour that was both unfamiliar and unfavourable.There were no visable vegetables or herbs in the meat sauce, which we both ordered, not even diced tomatoes. Just meat and tomato sauce. Neither of us made it half way through our meals. The service was fine, on a positive note, but that's about it.

I have been to Nick's with out of town guests twice in the past two months and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. The service is dwindling overall in Calgary, but the service at Nick's is still good. I had a filet steak and it was delicious. I am salivating just thinking about it. I'd go back again with more out of town guests to show them a good time. I agree with the other comment here that it isn't a yuppy/trendy place which is nice for a change.

I didn't know what to expect but when the pizza arrived it was just like the pizzas of old, really loaded! It was almost an inch thick with a ton of cheese. The service was great and I more than got my money's worth as I couldn't finish and took food home in a box. I'll take fully loaded toppings over 2 for 1 where you buy tons of pizza dough instead. My kids won't order anything else now.

I went for the ribeye which was $28.00. When I got the steak it was cold and the ribeye cut did not look like a triple A cut I am used to eating. For that kind of money you are better off going to Hy's or Ceasar's. The baked potato was the thinest potato I have ever seen and that was cold also. Our friends did not get thier steaks done properly and had to send it back twice. Our waitress was not personable and didn't bring all the food that we had ordered. Overall we were very upset with the quality of food and the service we got.

we loved everything about nick's! The decor is classic steakhouse, not trendy or yuppie. The service was great and the food was even better. We go to nick's whenever we are in town and have enjoyed every visit. Nick's truly is the best steakhouse we have ever been to.
