AW Shuck's Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Charleston

Superb food. Wait staff was a little rushed and not able to take care of their tables like they should have, but food made up for it.

Always have a great time when we visit! Great food and beer selection, hands down beats most of the places we've dined downtown. Two thumbs up!

AMAZING! I highly recommend the buffalo shrimp. Good service and nice atmosphere.

A downtown classic that's hanging in there. Ate at the bar and had a good appetizer and meal, but they didn't have enough staff on duty when the lunch rush started. The bartender also had to wait a large group that was seated next to the bar so the friendly hard working gal didn't have enough time to take care of all her customers. The local customers there were very friendly with good advice for a tourist-I'll give the place another try.

So glad we didnt listen to the many bad reviews. This place was sensational. Outside area was fabulous... great breeze. Service was good. Food was definitely too much to be finished in one sitting. Definitely worth the prices... which was pretty typical for Charleston restaurants. She-crab soup was great!

I would like to say that I had the privilage of working at AW Shucks for a year and a half. At one time the restaurant was wonderful. Now a new management staff has taken over. They have either fired, or the core crew that was together for well over two years has quit. If you like Applebees then you'll like the new Shuckabee's. Insted of a family environment now you enjoy corp. America. The service is now terrible, good luck finding anyone who knows about the history of AW Shucks. When the new management took over they gave up the longstanding reputation of great food and great service. Big Mussels, Great Legs, and Fantastic tails, are now sexual comments and does not refer to the great sea food you once got at Shucks. I will say it is a waist of time and money. If your on the market in Charleston there are plenty of other sea food restaurants to enjoy.

Waitress spilled drinks all over us. Broken glass on floor, which three people immediately cleaned up, but left us still soaked. Then charged us full price, and never responded to my letter explaining to General Manager. This one is dangerous. Charleston has so many fantastic places to eat, so please do not waste your time with this one.

This is advertised as a seafood restaurant. The only seafood that wasn't overcooked were the raw oysters. The fish and the clams were tough! The rice side was dry and inedible.

We stopped here for a light dinner on our first day in Charleston, mainly because of the $5 off dinner coupon that had been handed to us by our cabdriver, hotel clerk, and some woman on the street. Only problem was that it took a while for someone to seat us. However, after that, we had great service. Seafood was fresh, pretty reasonable in cost, and portions were satisfying. We were able to watch the ball game, and the interior of the restaurant reveals the history of the old building. Nice experience.

Each year we come to Charleston, this is the first place we stop to eat. We always sit at the bar and order 3 or 4 appetizers to split between us. The service has always been exceptional - timely and extremely friendly! It's a wonderful place to come, sit, relax, and soak in the atmosphere. The open-air feel compliments the interior perfectly. Don't miss this place on your next vacation. We'll be stopping there this year ourselves!
