Bagolac Saigon Restaurant, Calgary

we've been coming here for about 4 years now and we go almost every other week. delicious food, big portions too, not too pricy, i have no idea why peope were saying the service is bad, since we go so often, the waiters there always smile and say hi, because we're regulars, it feels like going to someones house for dinner. excellent.

I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now, before and after the renovations. I do like the new interior of the dining room as it is open, modern and clean. They do offer reasonable prices with great food quality and portion. The menu has "recommended" (thumbs up) dishes are all very tasty. My favorite is the Spicy Sate Beef soup. It has delicious flavor and comes in a very generous size. It is the best Vietnamese soup I have had in Calgary. This is one of about 180 different dishes the menu has to offer. I can understand how many other "reviews" have had bad experiences with the owner, he is not compassionate. I personally have never had an issue, he will always smile and say thank you, or greet us when we arrive, but it is far from a positive vibe. I have never seen him kick somebody out, but I wouldn't doubt that he would. In regards to "customer service" it is a hit and miss. I have never once had a waitress return to the table and ask us how our food is, or to refill our beverages. The only real compliment I can leave "service" wise is how fast the kitchen will prepair appetizers and dishes. Bottom line... I get better service at pretty much any other restaurant. However, because of the food quality, prices and portions its is one of my favorite restaurants. If you are arrogant or prude, you will not enjoy this restaurant due to service and might be kicked out. If you are relaxed, easy going and in the mood to have some delicious food, give this place a go!

Best thing about this place is by far the food, had the salad rolls (no coriander... awesome!) and lemongrass chicken vermicelli.... extremely good... I used to go to Thanh Long (sp?) over on 17th... but the food was a little better at Bagolac and the restaurant was definitely much MUCH nicer (and no code to get into the bathroom!) I don't normally dine over by Chinook, but everytime I go to the mall, I'll definitely grab a bite to eat here. Only thing I didn't like was that they charged for tea.. it was a buck for a pot, so not horrible... I've noticed a lot of places charging for it now... At least it wasn't $3 for a glass.

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. This is because of the variety. The curried beef is oputstanding. I have seen the comments about he service and I am surpriesed. I do take out mostly but I have never had a problem.

I went to the restaurant with my mother and my sister. Instead of guiding us to the tables, a short bald man wearing a green lacoste polo shirt (who seemed like the owner) literally pushed my sister towards the table. When we got to the table, there were only two cups and chopsticks so we asked for another one politely just once. Then all of a sudden the bald man replies, "this is not macdonalds, if you want fast food service get the out now." Man was I surprised or what? We deicided to leave the restaurant and the bald man folowed us out and yelled at us to never come back.

Ridiculously Rude , worst service ever. Food quality has gone down since a few years ago. Used to be my favorite Viet restaurant, not any more. Extremely RUDE waitresses, ruins entire meal experience. NOT child friendly restaurant. They used to be a great restaurant BUT it seems they are resting on their laurels and have been comfortable going downhill. This was my last time at Bagolac.

Perhaps the new owner/management unintentionally caused several oversights that they overlooked in the past/present or we (as customers) should simply voice our concerns to management. As a result, they are aware of our perspective and if given a chance add value to our visit. For some reason, I truly believe they would because they are very nice people. After all, isn't restaurant business is by far one of the hardest businesses you can get into especially if you are just winging it? It seems to me that perhaps they are just winging it but even so not all problems is from management hence that is why we opt to let them know if we feel less valued during our visit but I really think they are doing a good job though. At the end of the day, who's perfect? If given time, the new owner will improve and again add more value to us. The food is great I must say and I would recommend this place to anyone who desire to have a taste of Vietnamese delight! Yum!! Chow :)

This is one great place to find great food and the value is amazing! This place is for those who are hungry! It is always fresh and I love the coconut rice! Yum! I strongly recommend it to all!(especially families) It's worth the time/money. Way to go Bagolac!!!!

Absolutely terrible service, EXTREMELY RUDE. It was way too expensive and food is below average. Will never go back there due the terrible service. They also refuse to honour gift certificates that were purchased before the restaurant was sold. BEWARE.

New ownerships has turned the place into somewhere I have no intrest in ever going again. Service tanked, food quality took a nose dive, prices went up. It's a joke there now. Dont spend your money there it's a waste.
