Mother Tucker's serves delicious Alberta beef: their specialty is Prime Rib. They also offer chicken, seafood, ribs and a selection of excellent vegetarian choices, including a salad bar with over 60 items. Sundays, they serve brunch from 11am-2pm. The selection of ales and lagers is large and you will find great prices on the red and white house wines. Mother Tucker's is decorated in dark woods and rich reds and offers a formal dining room as well as a lounge featuring pool tables, dartboards and an identical menu.
We have been going to MT for years, fairly regularily, and have always been treated warmly. As for Entree's - I have only had the steak and chicken dinners, but found them excellent. The salad bar is generous, and always good, and the buffet is varied and tasty. I recommend trying it out.
Front desk person (Don was his name I believe) was very unprofessional. We wanted to have two separate tables near each other in order to use a coupon they offered. Don told us that the waiter would not be able to handle this and that if we chose not to sit at the same table we would likely be in different sections even though the place was almost empty as it was snowing out and it was a Tuesday night and there were plenty of tables next to each other. Don just walked away when challenged about this. The place has not changed it's decor for at least 15 years, the salad bar is ok but the entree's are average at best but given the high prices, not worth it. If you after their "specialty" prime rib, you are better off going to Smuggler's Inn or some other steak house. Their baby back ribs did not fall off the bone like at some other places. Almost seemed like they were pre-boiled and reheated in the oven and then covered in bbq sauce. No grill lines whatsoever.
My family has gone to Mother's for years. We love it there for big gatherings and small intimate meals. The salad bar is great with a large mix of things to choose from and even if you are not a beef eater there is something on the menu that will appeal to you.
Hi, We visited Mother Tucker's on my Daughter's ninth birthday. After making reservations, we walked over from our hotel. I mentioned that it was my Daughter's ninth birthday that day and that is why we were eating out. The woman at the desk asked several questions pertaining to whether or not we could prove her age, ie. birth certificate, health insurance etc. We could not so she said "Too Bad". I guess we didn't qualify for the free kids meal on her birthday. After this and viewing the salad bar with the small flies circling the food, we were so turned off we left. Too bad it has changed from such a great fun place to go.
