The middle of the majestic Rockies is the perfect place to celebrate Canada's birthday. On the first of July, flag-waving and happy mayhem take over the Banff townsite. This street festival begins with a parade down Banff Avenue and includes a sidewalk art demonstration, a food fair, children's performers, ethnic dance and music and face painting. One of the wildest events is "Banff's Stupid Pet Tricks." True to patriotic form, this day ends with a stellar fireworks display. This is a free event.
