The eight-minute journey is a year-round attraction, and during the summer you can hike around the summit area. Marvel at the breathtaking and photo-worthy vistas from the observation deck, have a snack at the Summit Restaurant cafeteria (summer only) and visit the gift shop. For full meals, visit Panorama Restaurant (closed from December 3 to December 26). Check the website for gondola hours, as these vary greatly from month to month; also, the hours of operation are subject to change without notice.

Hike to the of world.
By ,
I loved the hike to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. It was breath taking no doubt. I haven't hike for a few years and my leg stiffened up on me but I am ready to do it again! I am 55 and a little over weight I am inspired to get fit so i can keep up to my darling man you also inspired me to reach the summit. I have ived near Banff for thirty years and missed this experience, you can bet i won't let the next 30 years slip by without the climb to the top! the hot springs were a delightful treat after the hike! To the Top Again!!!

Magnificent!
By ,
The Gondola was just a short walk from our Rimrock Hotel, which has a fantastic view. The view from the Gondola was even better. An absolutely unique site.

Labor Day Weekend 2007
A must see experience while in Banff! We didn't hike up but the view was absolutely breathtaking. We also enjoyed the big horn sheep at the top!

AWSOME

WENT UP WITH MY 29 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON A "GIRLS THREE DAY GET-AWAY" AT THE BANFF SPRINGS. WE BOUGHT THE PHOTO OF US IN THE GONDOLS AT THE END OF THE RIDE AND I HAVE THAT TO BRING BACK ALL THE GOOD MEMORIES WHEN I LOOK AT IT.

Used to ge a great value
By ,
Sulphur mountain has an excellent view of the surrounding area. It used to be my favorite place to take friends as we slogged our way to the top and took the Gondola down. However, I haven't gone up ever since they started charging money. If you're really strapped for time and have money to burn, take the gondola. Otherwise, take the time to walk up/down and buy yourself a meal at the Magpie and Stump.

Fun but...
By ,
Its a bit expensive but the view at the top of Sulphur Mountain. If budget is an issue, I would recommend just driving to the top of Mount Norquay ( 5 min outside of banff) and checking out the view of the town and vermillion lakes from there.

Breath Taking!!
By ,
We went for our honeymoon in November, 2005. We loved it because it is considered off season and nobody was there. We had the place to ourselves and it was beautiful there. The layers of fresh snow and views of snow capped mountains were truly gorgeous!! The only thing we were disappointed about was there were no animals. We saw tons of animal tracks but no live animals. They must have been hibernating. It was amazing there...We can't wait to go back!!

Bring money if you hike up and want to ride down!
By ,
The hike up Sulphur Mountain was just right for my family (including a six year old). It can be done in about 2 hours if you're all in decent shape, but parts are quite steep and the trail is narrow at points. (I'm afraid of heights but somehow managed to do this hike. It was a bit dicey for me at times.) We went in May 2006, before the supposed "busy" season, and I can confirm that they do charge for the gondola ride down (something like $12 for adults - kids 5 and under free). It snowed and hailed when we were at the top, and that was pretty kool. Bring an extra jacket.

I liked this even though I was a little afraid of the bears below and it was really hard finding one but I liked it.
