Seoul Country Restaurant
As its name suggests, this busy Banff restaurant specializes in Korean cuisine. The menu is small and features such dishes as Korean BBQ, soups, rice dishes, hot pots and Korean-style noodles. The menu descriptions are clear enough for those who don't know their bulgogee from their shabu. The interior is plain, with a few Korean flags, but with the Rocky Mountains outside the windows, who needs flashy decor?
After having heard all the good reviews about this place, decided to try this out. The food was rather pricey and we definitely looked forward to it. However, the waiter cooks the so-called barbeque food for you and yet they don't come back and check on it often. So some meat was burnt and some was not cooked properly. The cutlery and cups were dirty and thus, we ordered pop. The beef and ribs had no taste and they claimed it was marinated - which I highly doubt. The waiter did not come back with our second bowl of rice and did not communicate with us how the barbeque process worked. We were extremely confused during the whole dinner, and for nearly 70 bucks I could have had much better food.
The food is so delicous at Seoul Country Korean Restaurant that we went there twice in less than three days. My husband and I went there with a couple of friends. We all ordered different entrees and shared. The Korean barbeque selections, which you grill at your own table, are wonderful. We also enjoyed the bi-bim-bab, the kimchi, and some stews and soups. Also, for Banff, where prices are quite high, this restaurant is refreshingly reasonable.
