Aardvark Pizza and Sub
Visitors to Banff often follow up their mountain adventures with an expedition to one of the town's raucous bars, which can build a fearsome appetite. Luckily, this tiny pizza and sandwich place is open late. Aardvark's charming misspelled menu features pizza slices as well as submarines and chicken wings. Full size pizzas are also available, and there is free delivery anywhere in Banff. There is very little seating, so most people grab their slice to go. Stop by at 3a—you will not be alone.
I have been living in Banff for Seven years now, and have never got good food from this place.
If they don't get your order right, than the food will be cold by the time that its gets to you (most of the time is will take 1 1/2 minamim to get to you).
When you oder you must ask for stupit things like a nacken or a plastic fork to eat with, and odds are you will not get it.
I recently ordered 2 pounds of chicken wings. We just got 14 chicken wings for $17. I just paid $1.20 per TINY chicken wing. Never before anywhere around the world have I ever paid so much for a chicken wing!! I will never again in this life or the next buy as much as a celery stick from Aardvarks! I recommend to everyone else stopping in the town of Banff to avoid one of life's biggest rip-off's - Aardvark's.
Whether you're staggering out of one of the local clubs at 2:00 a.m. or coming off a backpacking trip, Aardvark is fast hot munchies. The pizza is pretty standard, but definitely hits the spot when you're hungry; many other items on the menu are not up to par with what you'd get in a larger town. They seem to have this weird allergy to fresh vegetables, fr'instance.
If you're in the mood for a heart bypass, please try the poutine. It's pretty good - as long as you can handle a few palpitations.
The place (and the sidewalk outside) is a good place to meet droves of people when the bars clear out. Pretty much strictly take-out. Most staff seem a little grumpy - but can you blame them?
