Miki Japanese Restaurant, Banff

My experiences refer to Miki's "All you can eat menu". I have been visiting this place for the past few years. Sad to say this place is going downhill. Few years ago, the rice of a sushi was normally sized. In the past few years, I have witnessed the rice is getting bigger and bigger. The batter on the tempura also becomes thicker on my latest visit. Maybe the food quality will become better if you order it from the regular menu but the food from the "All you can eat menu" is a bit lacking. Before you say what do you expect from a "All you can eat menu", but I wrote this after I tried something else last year. Where I paid a bit more ($5 more) so I can be filled up with sashimi instead of carbohydrate. On a positive note, the miso soap is really good, make sure you try them when you are there. I used to recommend this of my friends, I stopped doing it sometime ago because the food quality is going downhill.

This place is awesome. A local favourite . And who knows local joints better than the locals. Whoever wrote the review titled No Good because no salada no soup must be joking . Interesting that all the other reviews give this place 4 or 5 stars. And the No Good reviewer gives only one. Kinda makes you wonder who the one star rating should be for. If pretentious is what you like, then this restaurant is not for you. If it's great food at a reasonable price, then it doesn't get much better than this in Banff.

For $25 all you can eat sushi this place serves up a good value. The food is fresh, quickly prepared, and there is a wide selection. Tempura scallops are my favourite! It is worth the 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk from downtown Banff.

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. Its second floor location gives it one of the best, and rarest, views in Banff, with a panorama of the south face of Cascade mountain and Mt. Norquay and the ski hill. The food is also excellent, and Miki's boasts one of the best all you can eat deals in the Bow Valley with some pretty decent sushi and sushimi, including tea, soup, and dessert! All for $25/person (special days/times/seasons apply).

I think this restaurant was better than I initially thought it would be. The all-you-can-eat-sushi is my favourite part of this experience. For only $25 you can all the sushi you want, which is good for an avid sushi eater such as I. The waitresses are for the most part friendly and the wait time for your food is adequate. The restaurant is a little small and is on the outskirts of town (the town of Banff is small so I don't mind walking). Based on my experiences with Japanese food, I think Miki is pretty high on my long list. I recommend it wholeheartedly for those who enjoy sushi and Japanese food.

I did not feel good restaurant as Japanese food. Even ordering dinner, No soup, no salada!! I do not want to go there again. In Banff, thereis other Japanese restaurant. They were very good. So, I recomend them except MIKI.
