Christ Church is the most famous Oxford college, probably the grandest, and certainly the most photographed. Founded as Cardinal College in 1525 by Cardinal Wolsey, the college became Christ Church in 1545. The college chapel, which is also the cathedral of the Oxford diocese, contains the reconstructed shrine of St Frideswide, the patron saint of Oxford, a rich variety of stained and painted glass including works by Abraham van Linge and Edward Burns-Jones, and a rare panel depicting the martyrdom of St. Thomas A. Becket.
This is truly a lovely place to visit. The story behind it is even more interesting. This is originally where your childhood stories of Alice in wonderland originates from. Alice was in fact the deans daughter and the author was in love with her. when walking around the grounds you can see the same cheshire cat trree and the truth behind the story as well as other interesting history made fun

What can I say - you have to see this yourself - I was there on a typical English misty morning, perusing halls with a cup of coffee in my hand and had the most wonderful sense of peace and beauty in an academic setting - just gorgeous. Nothing in Canada compares to these buildings. The photos are spectacular and I will return to Oxford again.
Christ Church was one of the most beautiful campuses at Oxford University. It is a must see for visitors to Oxford. It has beautiful buildings and also grounds. This school also has history so it would be a regret to pass it by.
