V&A is a great alternative to the norm.

V&A was one of my favorite museams to visit. The appeal is that the museum focuses not necessarily on the fine arts, but is extensive in that it also focuses on alternative exibits such as fashions of the past several centuries, tatoos and body piercings. For people who would like to see something different than 300 year-old paintings, this is a good museum to visit. I also enjoyed walking around the hundreds of reproduction sculptures that are housed on the first and second floors. What made the museum so appealing is that I felt very engaged with the exibits because you can get so close. There are rarely any red velvet roped-off areas extending twenty feet beyond the exibits---you can get very close.
