Wimbledon Village Stables
As one of the city's best-known stables, the Wimbledon Village Stables have a very comprehensive program from dressage and jumping to small escorted hacks. It's worth getting membership, for the additional discounts, priority booking and updates. The stables have two all-weather schools and are close to both Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park , where escorted hacks take place. Call for group and private lesson rates.
I decided to give WVS a go half-heartedly; having had previous bad experiences with riding schools and convinced this was going to be just the same. What a surprise this was to walk into such exceptionally welcoming surroundings! Everyone smiles, the horses are happy, the rides are a great way to make new friends and the staff's approachability make this riding establishment a real pleasure to go to!
The animals are great confidence givers and all very different. From the beginner to the experienced rider, there is definitely something for everyone!
Hacks to Richmond Park and Wimbledon common will guarantee a silly grin on your face for the rest of the day!
The social aspect is paramount there, which is highlighted by their unique membership scheme.
To my knowledge, the best riding school in London.
I love riding at WVS! The common is such a beautiful place and within 15 minutes, you would never know you are anywhere near a major city. The hacks cater for advanced riders with walk, trot and canter offered. The lessons are held at a good pace and everyone receives individual attention, even in a group lesson. I really cannot recommend them highly enough! Do call early as they get booked out quickly on the weekends.
