Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens, London

An oasis of tranquility in central London, Hyde Park, together with Kensington Gardens to the west, is the largest of the three royal parks. The darken paths, the solitude, and the peaceful breezes blowing through the leafless branches. London is such an expensive destination so it's important to find some free things to add to your agenda. These parks are a fantastic place to walk, people watch, and enjoy the fresh air. You can rent a row boat and watch the sunset on the small lake. These parks are as popular with the locals as they are with tourist and that should tell you something. Hyde Park is probably the BEST thing you can do for free in London. The first time I went to London I did not walk through this park at all, and after doing so on my 2nd trip, I will ALWAYS pick a day to have a picnic in Hyde Park. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It's so peaceful to just find a nice, grassy area to sit and chat, have a picnic, or just people watch. This is also a must-do while in London!

I so enjoyed my trip to London. Getting up early and taking a stroll in Hyde Park, watching the people, was truly a wonderful and refreshing experience. If I could only bottle it and bring it home! Highly recommend going here, its so good for the soul.

On our first trip to London we spent a total of 8 days on a hotel just west of Kensington Park. On our first day of exploring we found ourselves on the south west corner of the park. It was absolutely beauthiful. As we walked in to the park a way, we found ourselves in from of Kesington Palace. We continued to the east and eventually finding a path that would take us towards the south. We found our selves on a path in the middle of a delightful garden with beautiful colors, a perfect match to the fall mid-morning sunny weather. As we headed out the garden we found ourselves in front a the Prince Albert Memorial and across the street from the Royal Albert Hall. A great walk if you have the chance.

hyde park is very beautiful, it's all full of people who enjoy spending their time in that beutiful park. i wish i can have one park like that here in my hometown.

When you are planning your trip make sure you set aside at least an hour to stroll threw the park. I spent a good chunk of each morning watching kids play football, guys running around, and then on Sunday listening to the speakers in speakers corner. Having such a beautiful park in the middle of a major city gives you the opportunity to step out of the chaos and into the quiet.

I spent a day with some friends in the park looking for the Peter Pan statue, we got lost of course and managed to walk all the way through Hyde Park, clear to Nottinghill. It was a great time being lost, as the gardens are lovely. Perfect for that day in your trip when you are absolutely tired of shopping and museums. See all the statues and gardens there, take lovely pictures and relax afterwards by either watching Brit tv or seeing a play in Leicester Square (get tickets at the ticket booths outside for last minute tickets at discount prices).

Hyde Park, quiet, peaceful and an enjoyable stop during your very hectic visit to London. Take the time to walk near the Serpentine Lake and locate Diana's memorial fountain. Though the memorial could have been made to be more impressive, just being there makes up for what you might find visually lacking. Also at the end of Diana's memorial walk is a small �lido� where tea or coffee and a snack may be purchased. Sit here lakeside at a table and watch the multiple swans and many boaters as your day takes a break from the rush that awaits you just outside the gates of Hyde Park. Enjoy.
