Canary Wharf Tower
Description
London's second financial district is dominated by the tallest building in Europe. At approximately 800ft in height, this building is officially known as One Canada Square, but more popularly as the Canary Wharf Tower. The unique building with a pyramidal top was built by Cesar Pelli in 1991, and was the world's first skyscraper to be clad in stainless steel. Its flashing pinnacle is a major London landmark notable many miles away. There is no public access to the interior of the building, as it is reserved for the staff of the Daily Mirror, Independent, and Daily Telegraph newspapers which function inside it. The tower can be viewed from afar, but it's a different experience when you visit the marble atrium base, which houses multiple shops, as well as many restaurants.
Contrary to popular belief, One Canada Square is not Europe's tallest building, when built it was Europes 3rd tallest, it is currently 5th tallest. Very nice.
