Fish In A Tie
This restaurant offers exceptional value for money. Presentation is laboured over - an exertion that pays off in the delightful dishes - and service is warm. Very little quality is lost for such fabulous value. Swordfish, monkfish, sole, trout and cod feature in the menu and they are excellent. Pheasant, duck, chicken, lamb and ostrich steak also show up to prove that, despite its name, this place offers a lot more than just fish. The house wine costs just £8.
This place was amazing. Such reasonable priced food. Whilst entry is through a rather dodgy looking back street, you forget this as you walk in to a quaint, cosy, could-be French restaurant.
The staff are friendly, if not slightly too busy.
I would def recommended being seated upstairs. Def worth a try if you like something a bit different.
The ambiance of Fish in a Tie is great, busy, bustling and the decor makes it feel like a true Parisien backstreet restaurant.
Unfortuntately that was the best bit - the service was slow, our starters took 35 minutes to arrive. They were good though, if rather simple.
I took the special, fillet steak, as did my friend and my girlfriend ordered the vegetarian parcel. The steak was overcooked, and served on a bland potato mash, with thick onion gravy more suited to a Sunday roast. Veggie parcel was also bland and looked miserable, much like we were.
Maybe the best thing to do is stay away from the specials, and go when it's quieter. We won't be going back however.
Always been a great spot to meet up with friends and have a great valued meal, unfortunatly the last meal I had was spoilt by the bad manors of the waiters. So depending on the waiters mood will determine your views !!!!!
The fish and the tie is a great little restaurant found in an unlikely location outside clapham junction station. The value for money is exceptional and it has a great atmostphere due to being always busy. I had a meal for two with two starters, two main courses, a couple of beers and it was around 22 remarkable value.
