Oxo Tower Restaurant
This prestigious establishment commands magnificent views of the river Thames and people frequent the place in droves, especially for business lunches and romantic dinners. Modern art hangs by the bar, where a live singer or pianist entertains during the inevitable wait for a table. The food, an eclectic blend of contemporary dishes, strives to keep up with the gargantuan hype, and it's usually the eighth floor vista that impresses more than the plate. The restaurant lighting is supposed to emulate moonlight, but you'll feel obliged to step out onto the 250ft terrace and admire the real thing and the mesmerising, uninterrupted sight of beautiful London landmarks alongside the Thames. Be sure to sample one (or two) of the 350 wines on offer, and take home a tasty snack too, as backers Harvey Nichols sell packaged food items by the front desk.
Having been sat enjoying a wonderful evening at the Oxo Tower Brasserie only 14 hours ago, I felt impelled to write a glowing review without delay. Being the chosen one cursed with organising the Christmas Party for a small group of 6 people I started to panic at the possibilities of what could go wrong. After trawling restaurant reviews and weighing up the odds I decided to book with the Oxo Tower Brasserie, who were nothing but friendly and helpful from the word go. After a special request for good weather and clear skies, and a trip on the London Eye by sunset our 'hungry' group arrived over 45 minutes early for our table at the Barsserie. However, this was no problem and our table was promptly set up for us - at a window as promised! With the bosses smiling I was off to a great start. All course were beautifully presented with a magical blend of flavours and textures - with not one pot of cranberry sauce in sight! The staff were excellent (some reviews have been mixed on them?), friendly and attentive throughout. All courses were perfectly timed - something that most eateries struggle with at this busy time of year. The atmosphere was chatty and energised with some great live guitar music.
With the Oxo Brut champagne being both affordable and a delight to drink a great time was had by all in a wonderful environment - without blowing the annual profit!
I look forward to my next visit - Thanks for making my life easier Oxo Tower and MERRY CHRISTMAS !
Would you like a \"fuse\" with those Sausages Sir?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/06
So, I was with a few of my friends in this restuarant last week. The location is simply remarkable and the views are to die for. The view of the setting sun over London skyline was a photo-op you don't get very often. And hence the 4 stars for Ambiance, it was a great combination of casual and sit-down I have found lately. It all started nicely with a basket of bread and still/fuzzy water served by the staff. The bread could have been warmer but I discounted that to be an english way of serving bread. Having being used to Italian way of eating, I am used to eating warm bread as starters. I ordered the Sausages which were very well done and quite yummy I might add, well, until I almost bit into a "fuse". When I shared that w/ the people sitting at my table, there was utter shock and disbelief. None of us had ever experienced such a thing. Now, I know that stuff like this happens from time to time in spite of the best quality controls. So I called the waiter and described my experience. She was shocked and said that she is going to talk to the Chef. For almost 30 minutes, no one came back explaining for this bizarre occurence. I had to call the waiting staff and ask for an update to which I was simply told that they do not use that kind of fuse in that restuarant and that they have very high standards. What is funny is they simply tried to wave it off as something that was not a big deal. I asked that they take care of my friends and serve us wine on the house to which they reluctantly agreed almost counting how many bottles would be needed. A restuarant of such high standards should have done everything in their power to appease an obviously distraught customer. But in this case, they went about their business as if nothing had happened. In this day and age when customer service is so critical for the success of a business I was amazed at the apparent lackadaisical approach from one of London's finest restaurants. What is most amazing to me was their lack of concern and ability to react in the most civil manner possible. I would never go this restuarant again, god knows, what else I might find in my food next time.
I only wish they were as good as or better than the OXO company that makes kitchen tools with comfortable handles ;)
I'm an American who is in london once a month and owns a high end restaurant. I thought the food and service were just fantastic. I took 7 freinds there on a Thursday night and found everything just fablous. The menu and wine list were very nice. Our food came out as i would have expected it takes a little longer when you prepair thing fresh. The butter they use from france was fantastic. I have nothing but praise for them. I'll be back.
This has got to be one of the most awful restaurants I've ever been to.
The service was slow - waiting 2 hours for my main course which they had to admit they had forgotten about! The portion sizes - well, you'd need a magnifing glass to see them they were that small! The service was also very bad with the waiters having no interest in what you wanted or had to say. One even told me that they didn't care about the customer only the money that they were going to pay for their meal!!!
I most certainly would not recommend anyone to go there. I would recommend them though to stay away - well away!!
We booked a window seat and really looked forward to the meal, but no window seat was avilable when we got there! Picked a white Rioja from the extortionate wine list but was told by the waitress thet such a wine didn't exist! Starters took over an hour to arrive then the cauliflower soup was luke warm. Main meals were OK but the salmon was undercooked and only three strawberry sized beetroot accompanied it. Sweets were a great dissapointment, a walnut mille feuille that Gregs would have done better. Overall a very dissapointing experience that I would not reccomend to anyone.
the service was excellent the staff was very friendly and profesional also the view outside was breath-taking and the food was realy high quality! and those who were not happy about the service once shouldn't say that it's an awful restaurant because that kind of mistakes can happen to anyone i'm visiting there quite often and till now i can't tell anything bad
If you like American burgers or rock memorabilia this will be on your tourist route, so don't resist. And anyway,
this is the world's first Hard Rock, so there's some value in that. Be warned though, this venue is ...
Chomp away happily while the sights, sounds and smells of the rainforest envelop and transport you into the deep jungle.

Considering its proximity to China Town, the HK Diner is always bustling. It is regarded by many, especially by the
Chinese population, as a favorite for fine Chinese cuisine. There's a decent selection of seafood dishes costing around £8.20 ...
