Tertulia Cafe, Hato Rey sur

This bookstore-cafe outside the Rio Piedras campus of the University of Puerto Rico is a not so-hidden gem. For over 40 years it's been a second home to students, intellectuals and activists from all genres. This bookshop-cafe also frequently hosts book signing events with local and international authors, a majority which are professors from the university. Besides its ceiling to floor covering of books on every topic imaginable to feed readers' hunger, there is also delightful fare in the cafe which boosts a rotating selection of specialty salads, turnovers and desserts. - Rachel Hiskes
