Abbaye (South Kensington)
Found in the affluent heart of South Kensington, the Abbaye is a modern and welcoming Belgian bar and restaurant, containing both a large dining area and a more-relaxed bar with big, comfortable chairs to flop in while you wait for your table. Decorated in gentle greens and browns with soft lighting throughout, Abbaye is designed to be comfortable rather than sumptuous. The staff are friendly and attentive, and this is altogether a quality establishment. A high standard of Belgian cuisine is on offer, with an extensive breakfast menu and a great selection of mussel dishes. Specially recommended are the Belgian fruit beers and Leffe blonde which are, without exception, delicious and refreshing; there's even a selection of Trappist beers available. The original Abbaye is in Farringdon.
Great atmosphere, in both the bar and dining areas. A warm fireplace takes the chill off of a cool London evening. The selection of Belgian ales and beers is excellent. The service was cheerful and knowledgeable, enhancing the outstanding quality of the menu. The next time I'm in London I'll go out of my way to come back to this small, charming, place.
Full of nice well behaved young
and older. Very good food especially if you like moules mariniere. But my wife loves lamb shank when its properly cooked and tender and she said that hers could not have been better. Been there often - always pleased. And its not expensive.
We went with some friends for dinner. The food was all amazing, as were the desserts. The wait staff was attentive as well.
We will definitely go back. This is a good reasonable place to chill out and have a good meal.
