Nam Long Le Shaker
This bankers' hangout has the best cocktails in London. The narrow bar, lined with colonial-style wicker chairs, is the premier purveyor of the infamous Flaming Ferrari cocktail that will literally set you on fire if you're not careful! Jeffrey Archer's son was part of the so-called "Flaming Ferraris", a group of young, cocky bankers who would down these after a hard day's work. Try something off the perfectly adequate Vietnamese menu served in the quaint adjourning the bar. The Chinese-tinged menu includes stir-fries, barbecued meats, tasty appetisers and noodles, all usually a bit too oily. Although the cocktails will seriously drain your pocket, the food is reasonably priced.
23 years this place has been here, its made national press about its cocktails, when in NY someone told me about this place. Its amazing how this gem has got people recommending this place all over the world! The atmosphere and history to this place is what makes it so charming, and yes the food is tasty, its not stuffy and pretentious...the cocktails...pace yourself. If its your first time there - beware of the flaming ferrari and dont let your friend coax you in if you havnt had anything to eat! Fantastic!
Visited Le Shaker while I was in London per advised by a friend and had a blast. Sat and talked with bartenders and ate at bar early (food was great). The place was a party atmosphere later in evening. Met owner Tai and he is great guy!
