Cantina Dos Segundos
Azure accurately bills itself as a vacation style restaurant. With it's array of tropical drinks, outdoor seating, and open-air indoor dining during warmer months, customers feel as if they're at a resort. Brunch is quite a treat with menu items like peanut butter-filled French toast and Western omelet wrap. Having received awards from several Philadelphia publications including Best Restaurant for Vegetarians and Best Happy Hour, Azure is considered a trendy spot among locals in the Northern Liberties; and with it's great food, service, and pleasant atmosphere at an affordable cost, it's easy to see why.
Stopped in here last night on the way to the flyers game, the food was so bad that we both left half out dinner on our plates, had to stop somewhere else to get some food before the game.... DO NOT GO HERE!
Oh man, the Chilli Relleno is to die for. Stuffed with meat, not cheese, oh man. So good. The host is really gruff and doesn't always smell so good, but the food is reasonably priced and is a nice change of pace. Lots of vegetarian stuff, for those so inclined (I say let 'em starve, but that's me). the seitan tips are disturbingly good. desserts are pretty fine too. Oh and the calamari? A perfect latin take on an Italian fave. Black bean soup is simplicity itself but sooo good. Oh, just stay away from the jerk chicken sandwhich though - I dunno what they're thinking with that... it's aweful!
Okay, new rule though. No more first dates allowed at this place. Man, Friday night it's like a whole worls filled with awkward couples trying to decide if they want to sleep together on the first date. It's like the pod people or something. Oh well - I guess it's cheap, interesting, trendy and, best of all, the drinks are strong. Yeah, it must be the drinks.
