Fort Worth Zoo
This zoo is rated among the best in the nation, with over six thousand native and exotic species, and programs in conservation and education. There are kids' fun corners providing fun and educational activities for children, and a plethora of exhibits that include Wild Texas, Raptor Canyon, World of Primates, Asian Falls, African Savannah, Meerkat Mounds, Koala Outback, Komodo Dragons, Thundering Plains, and a Herpetarium. In addition to all of these fun and educational exhibits, the zoo is also involved in ongoing conservation projects to preserve animals that are in danger of disappearing in a world that is increasingly hostile and inhospitable to natural habitats.
I was exhausted when I finally got to the San Diego Zoo and hill after hill didn't help any. Ft Worth Zoo is extraordinarily user/family friendly. Lots to see and do and they have several interactive exhibits. No mater what your passion - mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, resident Texas wildlife - they will have something to suit your desires. Plan on taking 3-6 hours to see it all. I suspect you will run out of energy before you run out of zoo. Weekends tend to be really busy so go during the week if you can. They have a variety of strollers and wagons so if you have small children, get one of those. I wish they had adult sized wagons so that I could take 3-4 neighborhood kids with me. They could pull me sometimes. lol My wife and I have been going here for 30+ years so I KNOW it is good for all ages. If you don't enjoy this zoo, you must be a poop-head.
This was our first visit to the Fort Worth Zoo. Glad we arrived early for good parking. It must have been field trip day. Several school buses with alot of small children then some teenage groups. Once we waited for the groups to get ahead then we were able to move about easier. This zoo is large. There are parts that we missed due to our 10 month old becoming hot and tired. Very family orientated. Would recommend and would visit again
