Battlefield Rest, Glasgow

Having frequented this restaurant almost every time we have come to glasgow to visit our son we were very disappinted on our last visit on Sat 24th Oct 2009.It was as if all the chefs had the night off. My husbands starter was never touched as it looked so awful but it was taken away without comment. Do people normally leave whole plates of food as the waiter never even asked it there was a problem.The presentation of nearly all the dishes was very poor and looked very unappetising.My dish of mussels in a cream sauce with spinach came with a few mange tout set on top of the mussels and what appeared to be a carton of cream tipped over them.The dish was very bland and I have made better myself.When the coffee came again no taste. We really enjoyed our night but this was not due to the food and rather than spoil the night by complaining we said nothing. We have had many really good meals here in the past but we were left wondering if because they are so busy and don't have to try standards are slipping. I would not recommend this restaurant going by last weeks experience which is a great shame as it was one of our favourites.

The Battlefield Rest is my favourite restaurant in Glasgow by far!! The staff are so friendly, the ambience is lovely, the food amazing and even the house wine is great. I have been going here since i was 16 and still recommend it to everyone. y family and i always like to go here for special occasions, and the staff always make it a great night. Everyone i have introduced to the Battlefield Rest has shared my views and go back time and time again!!!!!

Italians,when you talk about dinnig are the most fantasious .I was in Glasgow in July and We had our lunch and dinner many times in a mounth. We alwais had excelents eats. Marco from Pontremoli.

This restaurant serves good quality reasonably priced food. The service is effecient and friendly. My fiance and I went there for our first date and keep going back time and again. It is great.

They do a lovely lunch menu with a glass of wine for only �5. Food is excellent. Fantastic pasta dishes and the desserts (especially the pablova) are to die for.

Great atmosphere; excellent food and service. The menu was extensive and offered a wide choice; it was difficult deciding what to order because it all looked so good. If we lived locally, we could work our way through the menu! We recommend "Battlefield Rest" to everyone who enjoys Italian cuisine.

The Battlefield Rest is one of our favourite restaurants in Glasgow! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service friendly and efficient! It's quite small and tables are squashed in but this adds to busy Italian feel of the place. AND the food is also very good!

Fantastic, you will not find a better restaurant in Glasgow!
