Auld Reekie Tours, Edinburgh

I wasted nearly 100 pounds paying for tour for 12 of us It was more like a route march up to a square and back down no consideration given to slower people who missed half the tour then crammed into a building with no room to move I dread to think what would have happened if a fire had broken out at end of tour we asked for drinks token only to be told pub had closed down and they did not have time to change the advert

I love haunted history stuff, but I am not big on siruations where people jump out at you and grab you and such. This was the perfect compromise! I did the above and below ground tour. The whole tour itself was fairly inexpensive considering it lasted about 1.5 hours! Actually all of thier tours tells you they are between 1 - 2 hours. We went through Mary Kings Close and learned some interesting history! Learned about witches at a church and the Tron. Next back to the HQ to learn about some torture and then into the underground which was scary as all hell!!! We saw some vaults and a witches temple and I won't even touch on the scariest moment left for last!!! We exited out into a pub and were given a free drink ticket to calm those nerves! The poeple on here who reviewed poorly, I can't quite say that I know what they were expecting but I found it to be very educational, fun, and scary!

My parents had been on an underground tour of edinburgh, and had raved about it. This clearly wasn,t the one they were on. We were quickly marched around the block twice, with a bit of history thrown in. Then we were taken into some underground vaults ( now i dont know how they were underground, as we had a steep staircase to climb up into them) It seemed to me that these old chambers, of which there were only about 5 shown to us, were old cellars of the building we were in. It was lucky that the tour had only 7 members, or we would not have had enough room. As for the tourture museum, it was a room approx 12' square, with a few instruments hanging on the wall. As for the witches coven, where we could peek into through the bars, who knows if it was really used, and could have just been set up for the tourists. All in all, I was dissapointed, and thought I would see more of the underground passages of edinburgh

Auld reekie reeked of a con.Going underground to some storage areas for was a waste of money.Save your money!

I went on this tour when I was on a student exchange group trip in high school. It was really interesting and I learned a lot of cool stuff, but it was definitely not your typical boring walking tour. A great attraction for teenagers and adults.
