The Scotch Whisky Experience

Description

Celebrate Scotland's national drink with a visit to the fascinating Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre. The exhibition covers three floors and a one-hour guided tour takes guests through the distillation and blending processes, explaining the history of whiskey production and consumption. The tour can be given in eight languages (English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish) and Braille scripts are available. Children will enjoy the special barrel ride through a series of tableaux depicting three centuries of whiskey making. The center also features the Whiskey Bond Bar and Bistro and a gift shop.

A Scotch Paradise
By ,
My wife and I traveled around Europe on our honeymoon and Edinburgh was our first stop. On our way to the castle we noticed the Scotch Whiskey Heritage Centre standing in all its glory. Even if you don't necessarily consider yourself a scotch enthusiast you need to take this tour and enjoy a sample - you're in scotland after all. The tour is most informative and doesn't break your wallet at around 8 euros and you find yourself in the bar at the end of the tour. A must see!

Great learning experience!
By ,
Staff was friendly and informative. Tour was not boring and giving key answers about whisky. We were given a sample and told to keep the glass as a gift, which was nice. First we were informed about whisky kinds, how it's made, distillaries of today and finalized the visit with a barrel ride through whisky history. It took about an hour. I wish fee was a bit cheaper...

Drinking all afternoon
By ,
A very reaxed atmosphere, you have the chance to try lots of whiskey with expert advice on what may suit your taste. The staff here were very friendly and held whiskey for ever taste. Even if you are not a whiskey drinker they hold a large range of whickey cream type drinks, which are very enjoyable over ice.

Could be better
By ,
It was all too short and too much like being "taught". Could have done with more tastings and more instruction on the whisky as opposed to how it was made. Barrel ride was very primitive when compared with similar experiences in USA and Europe.
