If you don't have the time to head north to the craggy outcrops of the Highlands but fancy a bit of urban rock climbing instead, Alien Rock is the place to check out. With various difficulties of ascent and descent, and 150 routes to choose from, you'll be sure to find a section to fit your needs and aspirations. Be warned, it is not that easy first time round - new faces need to prove their abilities before they're allowed to tackle the big wall. There is an excellent beginner's course and kids' courses are also available. Essential pieces of kit are for hire and discount and membership options are up for grabs. Check for open hours as timings are seasonal.
