I'm 36, a teacher, skeptic, level-headed, but I would not go down into the Vaults one night. The moment the guide, I and two friends walked in, the temperature dropped suddenly, and I felt the hairs at the back of my neck prickle. Then we heard a thump/scrape -- where there was solid concrete above. The guide had to go in and blow out the candles, so she commandeered my friend (tall, male, burly Scot) and they both heard a thump/scrape above in thick concrete... the place where the Vaults used to be but where the highway/bridge is now.

Walk the tour for yourself. I'd never have believed "it could happen to me" but it did... I know what I heard, even though it was impossible physically for anything to thump/scrape through solid concrete. The cold and the bad vibe were real enough to me too although I remain skeptical.

Ironically I went in another time to the Vaults and felt nothing -- no temperature drop, no malign presence, no threat at all. Sometimes they are active and sometimes not. You never know -- til you are in the Vaults!
