Corniche, Edinburgh

There's some really remarkable stuff in Corniche - you'll find true fashion classics here, clothes that are so finely made and beautifully designed that they really are timeless. It's a genuinely surprising find to come across such an excellent menswear selection here (and the ladies' section is every bit as good and original).

But what really makes it is the friendly and exquisitely well-informed staff - what would be a truly overwhelming selection becomes thoroughly manageable under their expert guidance. Without a hint of the subtly patronising or vaguely disapproving tone one usually gets from the staff in shops of this calibre, the owner genuinely seemed to thoroughly enjoy helping us through endless tryings-on of a huge number of clothes, almost as much as we did. As a young shopper, I rarely get this sort of treatment from shops like this.

One of the finest shopping experiences my girlfriend and I have ever had. Highest possible recommendation.
