Known to some as Scotland's Harrods, this independent department store counts the British Royal Family amongst its illustrious clientele. Classy, expensive and extremely well-stocked, there are many reasons to visit Jenners. It is something of an institution in Scotland, boasting a wide variety of luxury goods, from expensive jewelery to smoked salmon. Besides six floors of elegantly merchandised departments, this is the capital's only stockist of Fisher and Donaldson's wonderful Dr. Floyd's bread. Wander around the fabulous food hall, feasting your eyes on the delicious imported delicacies. If none of the goods tempt you, it's a great place to saunter around soaking up the genteel atmosphere, pretending to be a lady or gentleman of leisure. This is a particularly jolly place to visit around Christmas for the fantastic window displays and impressive decorations.
