Eddie's Seafood Market
This busy, vibrant shop stocks a great variety of fish at reasonable prices and they'll offer advice if you're a little deficient in your seafood knowledge. There is everything from traditional fish like cod and mackerel to all kinds of more exotic sea dwelling creatures available here. They often have a good range of crustacea, including giant prawns and lobsters, but be warned, they quickly get snapped up by eager seafood enthusiasts. If you are planning an oriental meal, ask one of the chatty Chinese staff for a bit of advice on how to prepare your catch.
I was a bit overwhelmed with the number of different fish and the live lobsters they had for sale. I bought two bits of cod, cut to size. They were delicious, yet a tad expensive for my budget.
The lady who served me was very friendly, and was up for a laugh and a joke.
Go there. You will not be disappointed.
Eddie's seafood market has to be the best fishmonger in Edinburgh without any doubt. They have an extensive range of fresh produce (something quite uncommon here) and a really friendly staff. Their fish is of the best quality, and if you cannot find anything, they'll get it for you.
Although some may say the contrary, their English is fine, and there's also local staff always at hand. Highly reccommended.
Eddie's sells quite alot of different variety of exotic and fresh seafood. In general, I am quite pleased with this little shop's offerings to the city. However, prices vary and most of the stuff are actually quite dear. The lack of english communicating skills make the staffs rather unhelpful. The staffs can sometimes be abit impolite, which is a big no-no.
I like this brillant seafood shop because it sells so much exotic and fresh seafood! the staff are kind, helpful and welcoming.
I am very pleased to have such a good shop in the city stocked with fresh seafood.
Costs vary but very worthwhile. i would recommend this fish shop to everyone in the city!
