Metropole Coffee House, Edinburgh

This is a great find for anyone who wants either a quick take away sandwich or snack, or somewhere to rest and enjoy a slower paced coffee and delicious pastry. The art deco-inspired decor in this former bank provides a stylish setting in which to devour a wide choice of dishes. The bagels, soups and salads are always very good. It's a friendly, relaxed place and offers good-sized portions and excellent value for money. Smokers beware - it's a completely non-smoking zone.
