The Coronado Theatre's name and its slogan, \"Rockford's Wonder Theatre,\" was chosen after a contest sponsored by the Rockford Register-Gazette. The theater was purchased by Kerasotes Theatres in 1970, and stopped presenting motion pictures in 1984. The Coronado was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and was listed on the State of Illinois Register of Historic Sites in 1980.
I visited the Coronado Theatre and fell in love with the atmosphere and vibe I got from this place. The interior was finely detailed and there were many different cultures and ideas that meshed and created a gorgeous, extravagant theater. I will definately go back again.
This is the theater that captured my attention and sling shot me into the fabulous world of drama! The theater itself is a beautifully done masterpiece and the plays are always performed by excellent actors as well as sets that really let their actors shine through.
