Canny Mans (The), Edinburgh

This is a very special pub, and well worth the trip out from the centre of town if you're a visitor. It was opened in 1871 and has collected a large and bizarre range of antiques and curios which are hung about the walls and ceilings. Until a few years ago these went completely undusted, but the establishment changed hands and everything was given the feather duster treatment. There are lots of nooks and crannies to sit in, and a unique serving system - just go with it. If there is a hint of sunshine, make a point of sitting in the tranquil beer garden at the back.
